About Us
Introduction
Initiated as a charity since 2003, we support the empowerment
of communities and the development of organizations that address
the needs of people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
The Lady Irene Medical & Resource Centre is among the very few community-based
Medical Centres across Kenya.
We are dedicated to strengthening the response to HIV/AIDS across
all sectors of society, and to enriching the lives of people and
communities living with HIV/AIDS. We advocate on behalf of people
and communities affected by HIV/AIDS, facilitate the development
of programs, services and resources for our member groups, and
provide a framework for community-based participation.
The medical centre was founded on the basis of love for humanity.
This medical centre is being set up to help take care of community
members who otherwise may not afford to seek medical attention.
We at the Lady Irene Medical & Resource Centre want to see that people are empowered
to take charge of their lives in as many ways possible. There
will be limited opportunities for training and development for
the community, as we focus especially on HIV/AIDS orphans, women
and men. We will help locals in Kimilili and surrounding areas
improve their health, fight poverty and better their lives in
areas of HIV/AIDS, malaria, family health, education, water/sanitation,
and emergency responses through info sessions and workshops.
We are a non-profit organization aiming at promoting
sustainable and equitable social development in Kimilili and surrounding
areas without regard to race, religion or political persuasion.
We will also acts as a catalyst for the discussion and understanding
of critical global issues not only in Kenya, Africa, but the entire
world.
